the most stressful day of the year

Wondering why yesterday felt so crappy? Turns out it was officially the most stressful day of the year.

How was your day yesterday? Did you feel agitated? Were you overwhelmed with looming deadlines or just fed up with the daily grind of lockdown?

Well, you’re not alone. It turns out Tuesday 17th March is officially the most stressful day of the year. It certainly was for me!

According to research conducted last year, which examined data from half a million people, 17th March was when people felt the gloomiest.

The research was conducted by an app called Natural Cycles, which asks users to log their daily emotions.

If you did have a bad day, try choosing one part of your life that’s bugging you and taking some form of action to resolve it.

The power of taking action

Stress can kick in when you’re feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of things that need doing or by those long nagging activities that you keep putting off. Writing a to-do list can help you see what you need to do to remove the stress from your life.

Studies shows that in addition to ticking something off your list, taking action creates a feeling that we are in control of our life. This helps to motivate us and protects our mental wellbeing.

So, where do you start? Give yourself 20 minutes and sit down, and brain dump everything you need to get done. Next, prioritise what must be done first and what can be left to a later time or given to someone else to deal with.

In fact, one of the easiest and instantly stress-relieving exercises you can do is identify what you can assign to someone else.

Maybe, for example, you keep meaning to sort your divorce out, but you just haven’t got around to it. Perhaps now is the time to let someone else relieve you of that burden. With Easy Online Divorce, you only have to spend five minutes completing an online questionnaire, and we’ll do the rest. Which leaves you to put the officially most stressful day of the year behind you.

If you want a divorce, but you’re not sure how to get started, schedule a free consultation below and we can discuss the right options for you.
